Voluum is a performance marketing tracking platform for media buyers. This integration allows you to pull in your conversion data to see it side by side with your spend and engagement data.

To connect Voluum to Brax, you will need to:

  1. Create a Voluum access ID and key & enter them into Brax.
  2. Add a Voluum traffic source.
  3. Configure Voluum data which will now be available in Brax.

Create a Voluum access ID and access key & enter them into Brax.

  1. Log into Voluum.
  2. Go to your setting gear in the top right corner.
  3. Click the security tab on the horizontal menu across the top.
  4. Scroll half way down and click the green "Add access key" button.
  5. Enter a name for the access key.
  6. Renter your password.
  7. Hit "Generate".
  8. Save the access ID and key in a document.
  9. Log into Brax.
  10. Click on your username in the top right corner.
  11. Click on "Integrations" from the menu.
  12. Click the purple "Connect" button.
  13. Select "Voluum Account" from the drop down.
  14. Enter the Voluum access ID and key you saved from the previous procedure.
  15. NOTE: Be sure that your switch for Voluum is turned on in Brax.

Add a Voluum traffic soruce.

  1. Upon first connection, you should see a modal titled " Voluum Connection Wizard".
  2. On screen 1, you will be given the option to select which Voluum account you want to add a source from. We allow multiple Voluum accounts to be connected.
  3. On the same screen, you will be asked to select a Voluum traffic source. We import this list from the Voluum account you selected. Select the traffic source you want to pull Voluum data for to match to spend & campaigns. At this stage we assume your traffic source is already in Voluum. If its not, you will need to go into Voluum and create it.
  4. On screen 2, we will ask you to confirm the type of traffic source you have selected. This allows us to map the data properly depending on the dimensions offered by each network. For example for Revcontent we will want Widget ID, for Outbrain Publisher and Section ID, for Taboola Site ID. We do attempt to auto-detect the type of network but please choose the correct one to confirm.
  5. On screen 3, you will select which parameters, Voluum variables (V1-V10), you are passing in data for us to match against. Each network passes in different data for the dimensions. Here is a break down of each one.

    Outbrain
    - Campaign Name or ID: Use {{CAMPAIGN}} or {{cid}}.
    - Publisher ID: Use {{publisher_id}}.
    - Section ID: Use {{section_id}}.
    - Ad ID: Use {{AD_ID}} or {{promoted_link_id}}

    Taboola
    - Campaign Name or ID: Use {{CAMPAIGN}} or {campaign_id}
    - Site ID:  Use {site}
    - Ad ID: Use {{AD_ID}} or {campaign_item_id}

    Revcontent
    - Campaign Name or ID: Use {{CAMPAIGN}} or {BOOST_ID}
    - Widget ID: Use {WIDGET_ID}
    - Advertiser Target: Use {ADV_TARGETS}
    - Ad ID: Use {{AD_ID}} or {{CONTENT_ID}}

    Yahoo Gemini
    *We stopped supporting Voluum for yahoo sites as of last Voluum release.. Reason is that we could only group Voluum API calls by 3 metrics and we use 2 of those for traffic source & campaign. Yahoo site reporting is unique because it require 2 additional metrics, ad_group & pubid.

    Content.Ad
    - Campaign Name or ID: Use {{CAMPAIGN}} or {cid}
    - Publisher ID: Use {did}
    - Ad ID: Use {{AD_ID}} or {adid}
  6. On the same screen (3), we will attempt to automatically detect those variables. If they are not automatically detected, please select them from the drop down. If you need to edit your Voluum settings for that traffic source, you can do that from right within Brax. Just hit the blue edit button to pop-up your Voluum settings, edit them, and hit save.
  7. On the same screen (3), select a time zone, we recommend EST. For more details on what the timezone does, see the FAQ for Voluum below.
  8. On the same screen (3), select the conversion reporting option. This is the date and time when the conversion is attributed. You can choose "Time of Click" or "Time of Conversion". We recommend "Time of Click" so conversions are attributed when money is spent.
  9. On screen 4, you will be given your suggested tracking code, one to put in you campaign settings and one in your ad settings or URL. Copy this to use at a later time and save them in your Brax default tracking setting from the top right menu.
  10. Hit finish to complete or add another traffic source.
  11. We will start importing your Voluum data for that traffic source.

Configure Voluum data which will now be available in Brax

  1. Now that you have connected your Voluum and added a traffic source you will see your Voluum data in Brax.
  2. We will import the following data:
    Impressions
    Visits
    Clicks
    Conversions
    Revenue
    CTR
    CR
    CV
    EPV
    EPC
    AP
  3. The data will be made available in all you reports, calculated metrics, and rules.
  4. For the columns in the data, it will be summed by the dimension you are viewing. For example if you are adding these columns to your Campaign Manager Performance Report, it will show number of conversions by campaign. If you are adding these columns to your Campaign Manager >> Publisher Performance Tab, you will see conversions and revenue by campaign, by publisher. 
  5. For calculated metrics you can use Voluum data to create a new metric. Let's say we want to calculate profit. I can go into Account >> Calculated Metrics and add a new metric which will be Revenue Minus Spend. I can call it profit and now I have a new metric using 2 other metrics.
  6. For rules, you will see any of your spend, Voluum, or calculated metrics and can run rules based off that metric. For example we block publishers who do not reach a specific target or ROI.

VOLUUM FAQ

How often do we get conversion data?
We get it for the last 30 days once you connect an account. We then pull it daily (up to hourly) and pull it for the current and previous day. Contact support for the details on your automatic import frequency.

What is data mapping?
As we import in conversion data, we map it (or attribute it) to our 5 standard dimensions. This includes source, campaign, publisher, and more. Contact support for details on how our mapping functions.

Changing the data mapping options.
In some cases the data mapping setting are incorrect or need to be changed. To do this simply go back to the integrations page and you will see an option next to each connected Voluum account that says "Mapping". Click this to change the mapping. If you change your data mapping and select moving forward only. Upon the next data import, it will re-map today and yesterday's data. If you select historically and moving forward it will include the previous 30 days. Contact support for any custom solutions required.

What is the timezone field?
This is the timezone in which we attribute the conversions. When we import conversions from Voluum, it is returned in the UTC timezone. This means if you are in an earlier timezone such as EST, conversions that occur today in your timezone have a time stamp of tomorrow. This option allows you to choose what time zone you would like the conversions to be converted to.

What happens if I connect multiple Voluum accounts?
You can connect more then one Voluum account to a Brax account. They must be different Voluum accounts. If they are the same it will not allow it. Contact support for exceptions.

What happens if multiple Brax accounts use the same Voluum?
Once a Voluum account is connected to a Brax account, no other Brax account can connect that Voluum account without permission from support. Contact us for exceptions.
